June 3, 2011 The sweltering heat at the Class B Sectional Championships on May 27 at Pearl River High School didn’t hinder the Byram Hills Track and Field Team from putting on another impressive performance. A staggering 38 new personal records were set as the boys team and girls team placed fourth and twelfth, respectively, out 18 schools in the section. Individual medalists were Kyle Condron (second place, pentathlon), Ben Greenberg (third place, pentathlon), Marc Violone (first place, 1600 meter run), Lizzie Wellington (third place, 400 meter dash), and Theresa Carthy (third place, 1500 meter race walk).
On May 31, the Warwick Fast Times Relays at Warwick High School lived up to its name for the Byram Track Team. The Girls 4x800 team of Amanda Rosenstein, Lizzie Wellington, Rachel Vega, and Lauren Perschetz ran the third fastest time in school history (10:05.99) while the Girls 4x400 team of Amanda Rosenstein, Lizzie Wellington, Rachel Vega, and Katie Ryan ran 4:15.78 to capture the fifth best time in school history. Also, 17 new personal records were set at the meet as the Byram Hills Track Team continues another solid season.
At the State Qualifying Meet at Arlington High School on June 2, Marc Violone qualified for the New York State Championships. The State Championships will be held on June 10 and 11 at Caledonia-Mumford High School. Marc will compete in the two mile run after running a first place two mile qualifying time of 9:23.79 at the state-qualifying meet.

Posted on May 24, 2011 This past Sunday, twenty-eight schools competed at the Westchester County Track and Field Championships at Byram Hills High School. The Byram Hills Track team had numerous top finishes.
Coach Govan says, "We had several medalists and many new personal records. The highlight of the day was the new school record set in the 4 x 100 meter relay by Chris Ramsey, Tom Giordano, Steve Giordano and Peter Reynolds. The quartet sped the full circuit in 44.32, eclipsing the old record by almost a full half second."
Other top finishers included Marc Violone (third place, 1600m), Daniel Piazza (fifth place, 400 hurdles), Lizzie Wellington (fourth place, 400m), Lauren Perschetz (third place, 2000 steeplechase), Ben Greenberg (fifth place, pentathlon), and Kyle Condron (sixth place, pentathlon). The Boys 4x400 relay team of Daniel Piazza, Ben Asamoah, Peter Reynolds, and Arian Pushka placed sixth in their heat, and the Boys 4X800 relay team of Brendan Cutler, Ben Ferraro, Arian Pushka, and Marc Violone placed third in their heat.
Out of the twenty-eight teams in the county, the Byram Hills Boys team placed seventh with a point total of twenty-six, and the Byram Hills Girls team placed seventeenth with a point total of ten. The Class B Sectional Championship will be held at Pearl River High School on Friday, May 27 at 1:00 PM.

Updated May 21, 2011 The Byram Hills Bobcats Track and Field Team placed third in the League Championship Meet this week. Success was claimed with the team's combined 11 all league honors, 15 top three finishes and 15 qualifying spots at the Varsity Westchester County Championship Meet. Among the all league individual runners were Marc Violone (1600 meter run), Lizzie Wellington (400 meter dash), and Amanda Rosenstein (400 meter dash). The 4 x 8 boys team of Brendan Cutler, Ben Ferraro, Arian Pushka, and Marc Violone, and the 4 x 4 girls team of Amanda Rosenstein, Katie Ryan, Rachel Vega, and Lauren Perschetz were also all league team performers. Renata Leone also established a new school record for the 1500 meter racewalk with a time of 7:37. The Varsity County Championship will be held at Byram Hills High School on Sunday, May 22 at 9:00am.
Coach Greg Govan In our first pentathlon competition Kyle Condron places 5th and Ben Greenberg finished 6th. The 4 x 200 meter relay team runs 1:33.1 to log the # 3 time on the Byram Hills top ten list. Daniel Piazza bursts through the 60 second barrier in the 400 hurdles as he blazes a 58.6. The boys 4 x 800 relay team runs their fastest time of the season (8:19.9). Chris Ramsey records his best mark of the spring season (42' 05"). Peter Reynolds throws 124' 05", in the discus for 6th place.
