Green With Envy, showcasing fabulous women’s accessories that bring the ‘WOW’ factor to any outfit, has opened in the Armonk shopping center at 475 Main St.

Nestled between D’Alessandro, the Salon at Armonk, and Village Prime Meats, Armonk’s new and completely refurbished shop provides a sleek backdrop for an array of priced-right jewelry, from sterling silver and pearls to precious and semi precious stones, plus large handbags, Judith Leiber-style evening purses, wool and silk scarves, belts with interchangeable buckles and more.

These are all close-outs previously featured in the best department stores and toney boutiques at double and triple the cost.

New inventory fills the showcases all the time so it’s worthwhile to come by often.  Sara Grossman, the shop’s fashion-savvy manager, is on hand to assist shoppers searching for something phenomenal to wear or give, be it for bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings, Mothers’ Day, graduations and other special  occasions.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call (914) 765-0002 for further information.

Jolie B. Ray Rocks
By Amanda Boyle

Dec. 16, 2011
The contemporary jewelry gallery Rocks has only been in town for a little over two months, but they have already become part of our community. Owners Tanya Tochner and Marjorie Troob have been designing jewelry together for five years under the name Jolie B. Ray, after meeting at a “Mommy and Me” class in Chappaqua. Rocks is their first retail store.

The word "gallery" is very important to Tochner and Troob. When you walk into Rocks, you'll notice that the display cases are flush against the wall. "We intentionally put all the display cases against the wall so that's there no divider," Troob said."We don't want someone behind the counter waiting on the customer. We want to let the customer experience the jewelry on their own and pick things out themselves. When they choose something, we can look at the jewelry together." With that philosophy in mind, the store displays their jewelry like paintings in an art gallery. The displays works well with the contemporary, chic style of the jewelry.

From that first meeting at “Mommy and Me”, the two felt an entrepreneurial kinship. Both were “stay at home” moms and they started thinking about different ideas for a project to work on together. They were drawn to fashion, and decided to explore the jewelry path. It felt natural to them, and it was exciting to design and create their new venture. The name Jolie B. Ray is a combination of their four children's names: Joshua, Lindsay, Ben and Rachel.

Their own jewelry line is the main line featured at Rocks. "Rocks evolved from our wholesale line of Jolie B. Ray," Tochner said. Troob added, "We wanted a way to sell our jewelry on a consistent basis, since we've built such a big clientele. We also wanted to provide more for our clients." They also carry about a dozen other designers, which include their peers, whom they have followed and believed in for years. Tochner explained that they look for "unique, different pieces”. She added, “We do have the traditional diamond jewelry, but we like to find interesting one-of-a-kind pieces." This description can be attributed to their own design style. There will be a new Jolie B. Ray collection out in the spring, and they'll continue to search for new designers. They're also hoping to have a Rocks website online in early 2012. There is a Jolie B. Ray website (the link is http://www.joliebray.com/index.htm), and anything available there can be ordered, even if it's not displayed at the store.

Rocks has jewelry appropriate for all ages. Tochner said they've had many customers shopping for Bat Mitzvahs and graduations. "We have young girls coming in and putting things on their wish lists, which is nice."

A popular type of stone that they have been using in their designs is pavé diamonds, set in either blackened-silver or gold. This darker metal works well with either gold or silver jewelry, giving opportunities for mixing and matching. Troob has noticed that layering is very popular now, and their jewelry can work together or individually--multiple necklaces complement and highlight each other, or one necklace can shine alone. They carry both simple and complex jewelry, but they're all unique standouts. There is a wide price point, including pieces selling from $35 and up. In their own designs, they are always conscious of using reasonably priced materials. Tochner has noticed that earrings have been their most popular item, since they are great gift items. Rocks is a wonderful gift destination for this holiday season, with their wide selection of jewelry: elegant drop earrings, delightful cocktail rings, a good bangle or two and long and short necklaces. There are diamonds, pearls and more colorful gems; there’s something for everyone's tastes.

Tochner and Troob have really enjoyed their experience with the new venture. The two women work together at the store, along with Rock’s Store Manager Sarah. Sarah is very friendly, and also very knowledgeable about the jewelry. They're excited for the future of the store, and they are looking into growing an already successful business. "As more people come in, we're learning what they need and can’t always find. We're filling in the types of designs and items that people are looking for on a day-to-day basis," Troob said.

We at AllAboutArmonk wish Rocks the best of luck in the New Year and all the years to come!
