Dr. Frank Lattarulo
Noble Relief Effort Recognized Following Haitian Earth Quake

Posted: Feb. 11, 2011
During a meeting of the North Castle Town  Board this week, Assemblyman Robert J.  Castelli (R, C – Golden’s Bridge) presented an official  Assembly Proclamation to Dr. Frank Lattarulo in recognition of his honorable and charitable medical work in Haiti following the devastating
earthquake on January 12th, 2010.

Dr. Lattarulo, a co-founder of the Wound Healing Institute at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, is a member of the World Healing
Society, and a longtime Armonk resident and podiatrist who was able to lend his support to the victims of the Haiti earthquake through a health
organization know as Project Medishare.
“As a founder of the Wound Care Institute, Dr. Lattarulo was well-suited for aiding the Haitian children who were victims of the earthquake,” Castelli said. “Using his expertise in wound care and his skills as a surgeon he was able to mend a host of wounds including crush injuries, post-operative surgical wounds, failed skin flaps and burns.”

As an experienced and well-versed doctor, Dr. Lattarulo was placed in charge of pediatrics at the Project Medishare facility, where he provided care to hundreds of children between the ages of 2 and 17 years of age.

“During his time providing medical care in Haiti, Dr. Lattarulo only had one patient who was evacuated to the U.S. for further care a testament to his skill, resourcefulness, and hard work,” Castelli added.
Dr. Lattarulo made many sacrifices to be part of the relief effort by living in a tent with numerous other volunteers, living on a diet of dried cereal and protein bars, and working in a dangerous and inhospitable environment.

Castelli concluded, “As a father, Dr. Lattarulo took to his position naturally, and provided not only top quality medical service, but personal comfort as well to his young patients, many of whom were orphaned. I am proud to be able to honor and thank him today on behalf of the New York State Assembly, the Town of North Castle and all of the residents of the 89th District.”
